The art of winemaking and viticulture is relatively new to Salt Spring, yet once again the island seems to attract dedicated people who are passionate in their pursuit of superior quality. The island boasts three wineries, producing award winning wines since 2002.

Garry Oaks Winery has built an excellent reputation for its winemaking, winning multiple awards at the Northwest Wine Summit for its Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Blanc de Noir, Gewurtztraminer (called Prism), and Zweigelt (called Zeta). They are now producing wines exclusively with their own estate grown grapes. It is also the first winery in the province to age wine in Garry Oak (Oregon White Oak) barrels.

Salt Spring Vineyards is a totally organic wine grower, blending grapes grown on site with those from Vancouver Island and the interior of BC. The vineyard produces a vast range of wines including Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir, Chardonnay, Ortega and its famous Blackberry Port.

Mistaken Identity Vineyards believes that skill, care and passion for their land and craft will be evident in their offerings. Thier care reveals itself in many ways and their vineyard on Salt Spring Island is Certified Organic.

Be sure to acquaint yourself with these special wineries when you visit Salt Spring Island, and indulge in a bottle or two to take home and enjoy.
